First, NFC technology summary:

NFC English full name Near Field Communication, close range wireless communication. Is a wireless technology initiated by NXP and co-sponsored by leading vendors such as Nokia and Sony. NFC has evolved from the integration of contactless radio frequency identification (RFID) and interoperability technologies. It combines inductive card reading Devices, inductive cards and peer-to-peer functions for identification and data exchange with compatible devices over short distances. Initially only a simple merger of RFID and networking technologies, this technology has evolved into a short-range wireless communication technology that is growing rapidly. NFC has the characteristics of two-way connection and identification, working in the 13.56MHz frequency range, the role of the distance close to 10 cm. NFC technology promotes standardization within the framework of the ISO 18092, ECMA 340 and ETSI TS 102 190 and is also compatible with the widely used ISO 14443 Type-A, B and Felica standard contactless smart cards.

NFC has three modes of operation:

‧Card Emulation mode: mobile payment, tickets, access control, toll booths, parking cards

‧Peer-to-Peer communication mode: data exchange: fast, easy, convenient equipment to establish, configure and connect

‧Reader mode: content distribution, information access, advertising

RF part:

NFC RF circuit is EMC filter circuit, matching circuit, receiving circuit, antenna four parts.

EMC circuit: Since the system is based on the operating frequency of 13.56MHz. This frequency is generated by quartz crystal. At the same time will produce high-order harmonics. In order to comply with the internal electromagnetic compatibility rules, higher order harmonics of 13.56 MHz three, five, and more must be properly suppressed. The EMC circuit is therefore configured as an LC low-pass filter to filter out higher harmonics.

Antenna matching circuit, the antenna coil itself is a low-impedance device, in order to be able to send NFC NFC IC to maximize the energy delivered to the antenna, so in the antenna and NFC IC to add a matching circuit. Eliminate energy loss caused by signal reflections caused by mismatches.

The receiving circuit is composed of R127, C118, R128 and C119. The Vmid potential generated inside the chip acts as the input potential of the RX pin. To reduce the disturbance, ground the Vmid with a capacitor. The bias voltage of Vmid can increase the voltage of Rx pin.

Fourth, NFC technology applications and scenarios

NFC devices can be used as contactless smart cards, smart card reader terminals, and device-to-device data transfer links. Its wide range of applications, NFC applications can be divided into four basic types. Applications such as access control or traffic / event ticketing simply bring the device with the ticket or access code stored near the reader. It can also be used for simple data capture applications, such as reading URLs from smart tags on posters.

Contact, confirm. Applications such as mobile payments, users must enter the password to confirm the transaction, or only accept the transaction.

Contact Connect two NFC-enabled devices for point-to-point network data transfer, such as downloading music, exchanging images, or synchronizing contacts.

Touch, explore. NFC devices may offer more than one feature that consumers can explore to understand the capabilities of the device and find out the potential features and services of the NFC device.

1. NFC for smart media

For phones equipped with NFC, using their reader capabilities, users have access to smart media for rich information or to download relevant content. This smart media comes with a low-cost RFID (embedded or attached poster) tag that can be read by a mobile phone to discover a wide variety of services in the current environment. And mobile phones can initiate mobile web service requests and instantly increase carrier network traffic. Operators can invest in this "real-time gratification" tool to increase revenue through ringtone downloads, mobile games and other paid-value-added services.

2. NFC is used for payment and purchase tickets

The earliest to use a contactless smart card on a mobile phone, just stick the card to the phone. Nor does it provide any value-added services through contactless cards, nor does it make use of the features of a mobile phone or the mobile phone network. Later improvements, while integrating contactless smart cards into the phone, are still closed systems based on traditional smart card deployments. We are witnessing a trend toward NFC phones that make full use of mobile phone capabilities and mobile phone networks and also provide card readers and device-to-device connectivity.

Payments using contactless smart cards are gaining momentum in the United States and the Asia Pacific region. Built-in payment programs for credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express can be securely stored on the device's secure IC. In this way, NFC phones can take full advantage of the existing payment infrastructure and be able to support new services for the mobile phone company.

3.NFC for electronic tickets

Electronic tickets are electronically stored access rights that consumers can purchase to gain access to entertainment. The entire e-ticket purchase process takes only a few seconds and is very easy and convenient for the consumer. After collecting and confirming the consumer's payment information, the electronic ticket is automatically transmitted to the consumer's mobile phone or security chip.

The user moves the mobile phone close to the automatic ticket issuing terminal to start the transaction. The user interacts fully with the service device and completes the purchase process by confirming the transaction on the mobile phone. To an entertainment place, the user simply places their mobile phone near a reader mounted on the entrance gate, and the reader is allowed access after checking the validity of the ticket.

4. NFC is used to connect and boot the device as a wireless device

Consumers want wireless connectivity simple and easy, but the convenience and mobility promised to consumers have not yet materialized. Although ease of use has become the primary motivation for consumer preference, safety performance is also a necessary factor.

5, NFC for Bluetooth pairing

With the NTA203 or NTAG203F from NXP, NFC smartphones quickly pairing phones and speakers and then wirelessly playing music from your phone via Bluetooth.

The NTAG203 and NTAG203F meet the NFC Forum Tpye 2 specification for a capacity of 144K Bytes.

NFC has tremendous potential to change consumer behavior and spending habits and create new business opportunities for mobile commerce. Its unique simplicity of operation makes it particularly user-friendly and its security makes it an ideal choice for both payment and financial applications, all of which are critical to the popularity of this technology.

NXP expects the development of NFC has a bright future. Industry analysts also believe NFC has strong potential for applications that are widely used in ticket sales, music downloads, and many other sales terminals.

NFC can explain that people exchange various information contents among many different devices, such as music, information, photograph, video clip, movie, etc., Still can buy new information content. NFC in mobile phones is our goal - a world where information, entertainment and services are available anytime, anywhere.

Sixth, the program market prospects

At present, the main applications of this solution are smart phones and tablet computers. In 2013, the NFC mobile phone market started with NFC-enabled handset shipments jumped to 275 million units, a year-on-year increase of 128%. 2014 NFC-enabled handset shipments will grow to 416 million units, up 51.3% year-over-year. Estimated that in 2018, the global NFC-enabled handset shipments will reach 1.17 billion, compared with 2013, shipments jumped about 4 times. In 2013, the penetration rate of NFC-enabled mobile phones was only 18.2%. It is estimated that the penetration rate will reach 64% by 2018. Handsets with NXP NFC solutions Led by leading handset vendors such as Samsung and Htc, more and more mobile handsets are using this leading solution. Under the premise of 13.56Mhz of international standards, the mobile payment standard in China will be gradually clarified, and this solution will have great potential. China Mobile plans to sell 30 million NFC handsets in 2014 and 30 yuan for each NFC handset sold. According to the subsidy standard of 30 yuan per unit, China Mobile needs to subsidize 900 million yuan to handset manufacturers. The latest Alipay Wallet 8.0 joined the NFC feature support for the NFC industry is also a good application of popularity, and Alipay wallet 8.0 impact on the NFC industry is obvious, a large number of support by NFC City Bank card to pay Firm users of the business users will lose a high ground. NFC industry competition, have begun to enter the Internet giant, Alipay support, WeChat farther?
